Entertaining comes easy when you have a cocktail recipe that matches the personality of your guest. Last weekend I had a friend over who was sweet with a little bit of an acerbic side (in the best way possible). I racked Pinterest for a classic, yet twisted drink recipe before landing on SKYY Vodka’s Pinterest profile. Using SKYY Infusions Dragon Fruit Vodka, I created the Dragon Slayer, a tasty spin on the vodka soda.
For this simple apéritif, you’ll need a few ingredients:
- SKYY Infusions Dragon Fruit Vodka
- A bottle of lime juice
- Lemon-lime soda (Sprite, 7UP or, if you’re fancy, San Pelligrino Limonata)
- Party straws (The ones pictured above are from Sur La Table)
Starting with a rocks glass and add ice to your liking. If you use a king-sized ice cube tray, like this one that I found at Sur La Table, you can avoid watering down your drink as these rocks won’t melt as quickly as traditional ice. A single cube is enough for one glass.
Slice up some lime as a garnish; you can also add lemon for some color variation. Next, pour in two ounces of the vodka and then add anywhere from two to three ounces of your lemon-lime soda. Add a splash of lime juice to taste.
Before you can pop a straw in the drink, I recommend cutting the straw down to a drinkable length. Nothing is worse than having a loose straw flinging out your precious alcohol.
Sugary and effervescent, this apéritif is perfect for summer nights. With SKYY’s endless amount of Infusions, you can modify this drink for just about any personality that you entertain.
