Fall fashion is always full of surprises that are sealed within the pages of the September issues of major magazines from around the world. From Vogue Hommes to GQ, fashion publications predict and procure trends in menswear that define a season year over year. This fall, I'm crushing on black and white as well as rich colors like burgundy and peach. Shop my favorite pieces (like structured bomber jackets and oversized sweatshirts) inspired by the September issue of GQ and you'll be sure to look as suave as Robert Pattinson.
Beaming summer beauty begins with a consistent skincare regimen. Adding simple steps to your daily routine can make a drastic difference in the way your skin looks and feels. The secret to being stunningly sun-kissed is caring for your skin from the inside out. As I've shared in the past, sunscreen and water are absolute musts, but now I'm revealing some more products that can take your beauty to the next level.
aloe vera DETOX WATER
Hydration is key. Drinking water is one of the easiest ways to keep your skin constantly looking refreshed in addition to maintaining good health. Detox Water is a game-changing way to hydrate with its triple threat blend of aloe, electrolytes and vitamins (C, B6, B12 and Niacin). Their Piñamint flavor proves that hydration can be just as yummy as it is healthy.
The world of supplements can be an overwhelming one to enter because of the expansive amount of vitamins you can try. Care/of completely takes the guesswork out of finding the right vitamins that will benefit you the most. After taking a short quiz that asks questions about your lifestyle and location, I was sent a thirty-day supply of individually packed supplements in a beautiful box. My personalized pack includes Astaxanthin, Probiotic Blend, Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Fish Oil. You can also add any supplement to your pack, so be sure to include Astaxanthin as clinical data suggests that it may help to prevent wrinkles and other normal signs of skin aging. You can get 50% off your first order by using my code THEBEAU50 at checkout.
honour essentials SKINCARE SYSTEM
Cleansing your skin is an imperative before adding any moisturizers, sunscreen or makeup. HONOUR Essentials harnesses the benefits of green coffee bean extracts to create luxurious, pure products that truly make shaving an enjoyable ritual. Your customizable subscription can come with single-origin estate coffee as well.
old spice BODY CLEANSER
Exfoliating your body once to twice a week helps reveal your healthiest skin. Old Spice's dual-sized body cleanser offers a convenient clean that doesn't irritate your skin. I love exfoliating right before a sunless tan so that it lasts longer and looks even.
dr. dennis gross GLOW PADS
While it's nearly impossible to avoid the sun during the summer, you should try your best to stay out of direct sunlight for long periods of time (even with sunscreen on). A little sunless tan is the way to go if you're craving a gorgeous glow. These Glow Pads provide a subtle, non-streaky tan that will have everyone wondering which exotic local you've been vacationing at.
Moisturizers and cleansers are well known tricks of the trade, but the secret serum to amazing skin is just that: serum. Glossier's Super Bounce serum has Hyaluronic Acid (a naturally-occurring substance in your body) which instantly plumps skin up with moisture. Super Bounce also has Vitamin B5 in it to give your skin plenty of elasticity to weather any summer storm. You can get 10% off your first purchase from Glossier when you follow my BFF link.
There are so many moisturizers out there that claim to give you every benefit under the sun, but Clinique's Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief stands out amongst the rest for delivering seriously superior moisture. I take a dab of this and mix it with my Clinique Pep-Start Daily UV Protector (as seen in my Festival Favorites) for skin that's dewier than Pacific Northwest grass on an early morning.
becca cosmetics SUNLIT BRONZER • becca cosmetics KABUKI BRUSH
Makeup can accentuate your beautiful skin, no matter what gender you are. Bronzer is a great place to start if you've never delved into makeup before. I use Becca Cosmetics Backlight Filter Face Primer before applying makeup, but you can also simply brush this on freshly moisturized skin. Using a super soft kabuki brush, apply a bit of bronzer in small upward swipes to the hollows of your cheeks, the top of your forehead/hairline, under your jawline, the tip of your chin and, if you want a sultry pout, on each side of your philtrum. This bronzer is completely buildable, so if you want to chisel your cheekbones out for the ultimate glam look you can easily do so by adding a few more layers of product.
crest WHITESTRIPS WITH LIGHT
White teeth only help in bringing out your tan skin, so somewhere in your routine you should take some time to use a teeth-whitening product. Crest's 3D White Whitestrips with Light give my teeth a professional-grade white that lasts. The included blue light (which makes all the difference) weakens stains so that the whitening ingredient can work more effectively.
As with all beauty routines, it's important to use the products that work best for you and your lifestyle. With these recommendations, your skin will be looking radiant long before the summer is over. Share your BEAUTY by the BEAU with the hashtag #theBEAUbeauty on Instagram.
I truly feel and look my best during the heat of summer. There's an endless sense of euphoria that lingers in the air during the month of July especially. I love spending my time outdoors: enjoying the company of other sun-deprived Seattleites, having backyard barbecues and, without a doubt, lounging at the beach. Old Navy has perfect pieces to enjoy all of the outdoor occasions that happen in the month of July. I curated two head-to-toe Old Navy looks that are as effortless as they are Americana-inspired.
slim-fit poplin SHIRT • slim-fit ultimate KHAKIS • canvas lace-up SHOES
This star-studded ensemble is ideal for a 4th of July celebration of epic proportions. I love making a statement with patterns and color and this slim-fit poplin checks both of those boxes. I balanced the shirt with simple gray khakis that I rolled up for a casual summer vibe. Blue canvas lace-ups finish off this color-coordinated outfit.
crew-neck TEE • skinny distressed JEANS • textured canvas slip-on SHOES
Jeans and a comfy tee is the outfit du jour when summer rolls around, so it felt natural to create this classic combination with Old Navy. Their skinny distressed jeans fit like a glove and have just the right amount of distress and fade. The micro flag print tee is as exemplary for the 4th of July as it is for the rest of the summer. I love this pair of cream-colored canvas slip-ons for romping around the boardwalk and beach-side restaurants on Alki.
I've found Old Navy to be one of my favorite outfitters of summer style. See more fashion inspiration by browsing #OldNavyStyle on Instagram!
There’s truly nowhere I’d rather be during the summer than my hometown of Seattle, Washington. The breezy, beautiful weather and stunning scenery of the Emerald City make for an idyllic setting to a spectacular summer. There’s never a shortage of exciting events to dress up for here, like brunch on Capitol Hill, rooftop soirees in Belltown and, of course, sunset strolls near South Lake Union. With Old Navy, it’s simple to curate a coastal style that compliments a summer in Seattle.
slim-fit dobby SHIRT • slim-fit ultimate khaki SHORTS
Nothing quite says coastal chic like a black and white combination does. The subtle stripes of my Dobby Shirt add some dimension to my look in a way that’s effortlessly elegant. I love the lightweight cotton construction of this shirt as it keeps me fresh without sacrificing any style. A pair of Ultimate Khaki Shorts was an easy choice because of the Built-In Flex technology, so my sunset-lit stroll can turn into a bike ride without a mood-killing wardrobe change. I accessorized my look with my favorite watch for a little shine. Meanwhile, my white tennis shoes help dress down this look in a fun way, as coastal style is all about being comfortable and carefree.
Maintaining a coastal chic vibe all summer long is incredibly easy when shopping with Old Navy. Their Summer-Weight Shop is full of black and white print shirts in lightweight cotton and breezy linen blends. Try reversing my look with this black Slim-Fit Striped Shirt and white pair of Built-In Flex Ultimate Khaki Shorts. Add unexpected pops of color and shine with shoes and accessories, like these burgundy Sueded Slip-Ons. Starting June 12th, all men’s clothing items are up to 50% off, so there’s no better time to step into something as stylish as it is attainable.
It was hard not to smile while wandering around South Lake Union with fresh flowers in hand. I love little moments of simple sun-drenched joy that call for an ensemble like this. Stay tuned, because there’s a lot more #OldNavyStyle to come this summer!
Dining alfresco is just one of the simple pleasures of summer that I enjoy every year. Being outdoors with the fresh Pacific Northwest air and the color-changing sunset makes a meal that much more delicious (and always more Instaworthy). My friend Carly and I put together a simple, casual dinner to enjoy while atop her apartment's roof in downtown Seattle.
Even for the most impromptu meals with a close friend deserve an aesthetic worth fawning over. I decided to embrace the shades of summer with bright yellow and green plates and cups from the Whitney Port for Cheeky collection. I love the natural elements of the designs and how the lemons and palm leaves play off of each other in colorful contrast. While this specific collection is no longer available at Target, there are sure to be more vivid offerings to collect from Cheeky this summer.
I grounded our en plein air aesthetic with beautiful candle votives from glassybaby. Each intricately unique votive is made by hand, creating a stunning conversation piece on any tablescape. The rave green votive radiates light and positive energy with its vibrant green hue and its connection to charity. In fact, 10% of each sale is donated to the Seattle Sounders FC's RAVE Foundation, which is dedicated to empowering under-served youth by building small fields in cities for free play, removing barriers to participation and even supporting and creating innovative programming through soccer. With an impactful commitment to community and a dedication to the art of glass-blowing, it's hard not to love each and every votive glassybaby creates.
For the dinner itself, Carly and I snacked on an assortment of meat and cheeses on a wood charcuterie board. The most important thing to keep in mind when creating a charcuterie board is variety. Having several types of cheeses with different textures is essential to balancing out the meat and bread ratio. Spicy Kale Caesar salads from Evergreens were easy additions to our meaty menu. We also sipped on peach-pear-flavored La Croix sparkling water and wine while the sun went down.
Outdoor dining can be as elegant or as relaxed as you want it to be, the best part about the experience is you'll never have to do much to enhance the setting. Let nature do it's thing and illuminate the night with a candle votive or two.
