I'm a firm believer that a little libation makes everything better, especially when you're already surrounded by great company in a great setting. Last week, my new intern friends and I went to Frolik for happy hour. Frolik rests atop a Motif hotel roof in the heart of downtown Seattle. With its funky decor, drinks served in mason jars and party games like shuffleboard and ping pong, the venue provided the perfect backdrop for getting to know new people. My new friends and I spent the evening figuring out what the beautiful waiter's sexual orientation was, bonding over stories of embarrassment and even realizing we all had mutual friends.
I ordered the Mint Bourbon, a refreshing cocktail of lemonade, bourbon and a splash of mint. My friends ordered Mai Tais and a Spring Cosmopolitan. One (dangerously strong) drink each was all we needed to keep the conversation going as the sunlight dimmed in the city.
Seeing the city from the Frolik patio made me consider all of my favorite views and buildings of the city during this past weekend. I "staycationed" with my family at the downtown Sheraton hotel in early celebration of my sister's 17th birthday. I absolutely love the architecture seen from the 30th floor of this hotel. 1201 Third is my favorite skyscraper for it's unique construction and how it looks while glinting September sun.
