You probably could have guessed I'm not much of a sports fanatic. I do have teams I'll root for, but only if I'm in the right place in the right time. A pub is one of those "right places" and last Sunday I was there at the "right time." My family and I ate at The Pike Pub & Brewery while watching a heated Mariners baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles. Unfortunately we lost 3-2, but that didn't stop any of us from enjoying the food.
Like sports, I'm not much of a beer person either, but I do like a Blue Moon once in a while. To the waitress' recommendation, I ordered the brewery's Monk's Uncle, a full-bodied Belgian ale. Like the initial bitterness of coffee, beer has an acquired taste. But I really loved sipping this brew with my meal though.
For a late lunch, I chose the Pub Club Sandwhich made with chicken, pesto, bacon, lettuce, white cheddar and tomatoes on a toasted bun served with lightly salted potato chips. This dish was hearty and satisfying as my family and I watched the Mariners struggle in the 10th inning.
The expansive pub is filled with Seattle memorabilia, wooden chairs and neon signs, making for a great atmosphere on a Friday night. Other great menu options include their famous pizza and seafood entrees. If you love trying new things, you can get The Pike Sampler which has four ounce samples of their six year round beers.
