There aren't very many people I'm jealous of in the world, save Beyoncé (I haven't found anyone who isn't jealous of Queen B), but that changed when I heard Troye Sivan's "Happy Little Pill." This handsome 19-year-old Aussie is signed to EMI Music and set to release his EP, TRXYE, on August 15th, which happens to be my birthday.
With over 2.4 million YouTube followers, it's really hard for me not to be jealous of Troye. He came out on his channel last year to resounding support from his burgeoning legion of fans and friends like Tyler Oakley. On top of that, his music is amazing. Please stop making me feel terrible about myself Troye.
"Happy Little Pill" is a song tackling depression with a sort of Lorde-like bravado. Troye's smooth timbre over the other-worldy electronic instrumental is perfection. The lyrics are delicately edgy and melancholy. The stuttering beat makes this the kind of song that you can listen to in your bedroom or raise your hands to in a nightclub.
Take a listen and you'll be nothing but impressed that this online comedian is truly multi-dimensional in his personality and talents. He's an inspiration to me and where I'm going to take my upcoming music (more on that later).
