I remember being the only boy in my second grade class to have a Disney Mulan lunchbox because I was obsessed with that movie. My birthday that year had all Mulan decorations and I even wore a ninja costume during Halloween. Seeing lunchboxes being used as decorations at Lunchbox Laboratory reminded me of my own packed lunch days. That Disney Mulan phase (thankfully) only lasted a year though.
Lunchbox Laboratory is a very adult restaurant with its extensive happy hour menu and booze-infused shakes. I went with my friend Kayla, who I've been friends with since my lunchbox days. The restaurant was filled with cute, colorful decor and customers enjoying the location's signature burgers.
Kayla and I only had alcohol for lunch, because that's all that grown ups eat ... just kidding! We both ordered mammoth burgers with unique sides. I opted for the sweet potato fries while Kayla tried the mac and cheese with bacon and jalapenos in it. While we waited on that busy Sunday afternoon, we sipped on our science-class-themed cocktails. I had a spiked strawberry lemonade and Kayla's drink, called "Too Skool 4 Kool," included vodka, rum, gin, triple sec, Kool Aid and sour.
We did wait unusually long for our food, but once it finally arrived, it was so amazing. My Big Bleu Marble burger was smothered in sauce, cheese, onions and bacon. The American Kobe beef melted in my mouth instantly. Gourmet burgers are always the way to go.
I definitely recommend visiting one of the three restaurants located in Seattle, Bellevue and Gig Harbor. Take a peek at the menu beforehand so you know exactly what kind of costs you're getting into when you dine there. The Snoqualmie ice cream shakes without booze are $7 ($10 with booze) and the sauces and sides come with charges too. While it was so worth it, Lunchbox Laboratory is more of a dinner place for Friday and Saturday nights.
