As much as I'd love to say it's sunny, warm and beautiful in Seattle this summer, that's not really the case. Sometimes the weather is in that finicky spot where it's not quite cold enough to wear a jacket yet not quite warm enough to wear shorts. This outfit aims to find a comfortable solution to an unpredictable summer.
One item I'm so excited to add to my wardrobe is a backpack from Everlane, a brand I love for its minimalist designs and dedication to quality. With Italian leather and reverse denim fabric, this piece is durable, stylish and versatile. It's the perfect backpack for exploring urban jungles or dense forests, just like I'm doing here.
I tied a Nordstrom 1901 plaid shirt, that I would normally wear in the fall, to my jeans. A Forever 21 white tee looks great with the sleeves rolled up. An Aller de L'avant beanie and desert boots from Aldo finish off this outdoorsy but modern look.
Wearing your plaid around your waist (whether you're a guy or a girl) is a 90s trend that originated (coincidentally) from the grunge music scene in Seattle and has resurfaced this summer. I love doing this because I can easily just untie the shirt and put it on whenever I feel cold or if hungry mosquitoes appear out of nowhere (which is one of my biggest fears). Even though I may not be the most outdoorsy person, I love having the opportunity to dress like one.
