This week my mom and my sister visited me at work in downtown Seattle and took me out to eat during my lunch hour. We decided on the Icon Grill, which has been a family favorite for years. Usually we visit this restaurant around the holidays for dinner when they have the whole place decked out in Christmas decorations and they offer delicious desserts like Candy Cane Cake. We each have our go-to's on the dinner menu, like their famous Macaroni & Cheese. However, we've never had their lunch menu, but that all changed this week.
When you step into the Icon Grill you're visually affronted with eclectic art, blown glass and enough color to paint the town red, only they've already done that inside their dining room. I love how expansive yet intimate the space is, you feel cozy surrounded by all the beautiful artwork. Every time we visit there's something new and exciting to look at on the walls.
Icon Grill's cuisine is aroused Americana, meaning they have redone all your favorite comfort foods in a unique, and dare I say iconic, way. I tried the Steakhouse Salad which included red wine and herb grilled hangar steak served on a bed of romaine lettuce, red onions and tomatoes with a creamy roasted garlic dressing. It even had crispy onion strings and crumbled bleu cheese. I loved everything about the dish, from the taste to the presentation.
After we all finished our salads, we ordered the crème brûlée, which came with fresh strawberries and bite-sized cookies. C'est très magnifique!
Not to our surprise, it was another perfect meal from Icon Grill. With fifteen years of service in Seattle under its belt, it's safe to say that this restaurant is an Emerald City icon. Next time we'll have to try brunch!
