I often catch myself thinking of how I can make a difference in the world with my passions. As much as I love the fashion and entertainment industries, there is a lot of corruption, greed and glamorization of unhealthy values in those areas of work. When I find brands that truly make an effort to positively change the world, even in the smallest of ways, I become instantly inspired.
When I heard VSCO (the company behind my favorite photo editing app called VSCO Cam) was teaming up with Krochet Kids International, I knew they would create something special. I've actually been following Krochet Kids since sophomore year of college when I was asked to make a mock media kit of a non-profit for my public relations class. I've loved seeing KKI grow not only as a non-profit, but also as a brand that's developed it's own unique taste. Seeing these two entities work together seems so natural and effortless.
"Something special happens when you connect with others in a way that goes far beyond business to reach the matters of the heart. This is the foundation on which collaboration stands and I couldn’t be more proud of both teams involved."
- Kohl Crecelius, co-founder of KKI
The exclusive beanie is available in black, red and silver. Each one is handmade by a woman in Peru or northern Uganda and your purchase will provide them with jobs, education and mentorship through KKI's empowerment program. Buying one of these hats gives these women the tools, opportunities and skills they need to support themselves and their families. It's a beautiful thing to be a part of, and you'll get to experience it every time you put the hat on.
