My summer is never complete without two essentials: a good book and a good drink. This summer I'm finishing up The Fame Game series with Lauren Conrad's latest installment: Infamous. I'm kind of bummed that this is the last book LC has written, because I'm craving more of her reality-show themed stories. If you're any bit familiar with Lauren Conrad, you would know that she was the star of hit MTV shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. But before you right her off as an illegitimate author for sharing the screen with the likes of Heidi Montag, consider that her alma mater is the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and she's become quite the businesswoman.
What I love about Lauren Conrad's two book series is that she writes about what she knows: reality tv shows. She has the unique perspective that we didn't see while watching The Hills during the early 2000s. While all six books are fictional, there are a lot of character parallels to the show's cast. Consciously or not, Lauren revealed a lot about how "real" a reality show is. The books are quick reads full of drama, romance and a good dose of humor. They're perfect to read on the beach with a mason jar full of strawberry lemonade.
Lauren Conrad personifies laid-back California style with poise. Her Paper Crown line is complacent with delicate neutrals and luxurious fabrics. She has a little more fun with her LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohls, a colorful collection of clothing with playful prints at moderate price points.
Designer, author and TV personality aside, Lauren also runs a lifestyle editorial website. It shouldn't surprise you that I admire Lauren's blonde ambition, she has the perfect career any blogger would dream of having. I'd love to hang out with her in LA and talk blogging, books and beach wear someday.
