It's hard not to appreciate a photograph of a beautiful landscape or a beautiful woman. Buildings and bodies have been the two standard subjects of artists from the dawn of time. Van Styles, a photographer born in NY and raised in LA, is no different in designing his apparel aptly titled V/SUAL. The brand, which has appeared in JackThreads, PacSun and Complex magazine, blends sprawling urban scenes and scantily clad women in it's collection of tanks and tees. Each top simply has a printed photograph by Van Styles.
The sometimes provocative pieces have garnered a fan following from surfers in LA, to skaters in NY. The photographer has even been lucky to work with The Hundreds, another hugely popular skateboarding lifestyle brand. I love that Van Styles took his photography and turned it into a brand, making his passion his way of living. I definitely think Van Styles should expand with a complimenting collection of tees that has half-naked guys on them. After all, sex sells no matter what the gender or orientation. For now, I'll stick to these four favorite V/SUAL tops I've paired with other pieces from PacSun.
