The fashion world shook against throbbing beats and hazy concert-goers as Alexander Wang announced his collaboration with H&M at Coachella's first weekend. Like Isabel Marant for H&M, Alexander will be launching a budget-friendly version of his popular designs this November. I'm ecstatic for the collaboration because Wang's own collection and work at Balenciaga are delightfully on point. For now, all of us hungry style seekers are drooling over his current collection.
Fearlessness is a trademark to Alexander Wang's clothing. I love the seemingly sweet neckline of the sleeveless shirt dress that reveals a daring cutout in the back. This pint-sized piece is bold in blanc. The same edginess goes for the "Parental Advisory" sweatshirt made with a large percentage of sheer fabric. Khloe Kardashian & Kat Graham have been sporting the statement sweatshirt around Hollywood.
"Anyone can get dressed up and glamorous, but it's how people dress in their days off that are the most intriguing."
- Alexander Wang
The men's line doesn't stray from the boxy, big construction of the women's line. I'm dying to own the leather patchwork sweatshirt that puts H&M and Asos copycats to shame with it's abstract fabric placements and covert pockets. Wang can be startlingly simple too, especially with his black and white box crewneck pullover. An actual color, in the form of navy, makes an appearance in Wang's collection with this over-sized tee.
Come November, I'm expecting to see re-imagined basics and a stark color palette in Alexander Wang's H&M collaboration. But with Wang, you can always expect the unexpected.
