Elvis made suede something to sing about in the fifties with his rock 'n' roll classic "Blue Suede Shoes." Fashion this season seems to be taking a lot of inspiration from his decade with the use of leather just about everywhere and the newest fabric of choice: suede. This fabric is actually the other side of leather, the inner hide of an animal. Suede's character makes for a sophisticated layer of texture to any outfit.
My Outfit of the Day posts this year have showcased how my Aldo desert boots can be worn in any way imaginable. You can wear them with rich hues, creative camo or in a newly nautical way. Whichever way you choose, your shoes will be the piece that takes the outfit to the next level. I recommend buying your suede shoes in a neutral color, even navy blue like Elvis suggests. Lucky for you, there's a sale at Aldo going on right now.
Another way to get your suede on is through a structured jacket. Jack Spade has the most practical jacket of the three pictured, but be prepared to be break the bank for this luxurious fabric. For the fierce fashionisto, Levi's Made & Crafted bright bomber jacket will give a color explosion to an ensemble. You can check out my other favorite pieces from the Levi's Made & Crafted collection here. Finally, I featured this somber suede coat from ZARA on my jacket du jour post last week. The blue green tone is chic enough for your more formal outfits.
Slip on some suede and you'll be as cool as any city-dwelling sophisticate.
