Last month I attended the opening of 8telier's first retail store with my blogger friend Amanda Nguyen of The Accessory. The formerly online-only fashion brand is helmed by Seattle's very own Jean Glover, whose career in clothing design has spanned more than 15 years. The name 8telier is a clever construction of the French word for "workshop," atelier, and the number eight. Jean's collection for women focuses on 8 qualities of style: chic, modern, cool, effortless, sexy, minimal, edgy and no nonsense.
Walking into the airy, whitewashed store in Pacific Place reminded me much of the retail spaces in SoHo. The New York aesthetic doesn't stop at the storefront as the entire collection of chic clothing has a color palette of black, white and other neutrals.
From asymmetrical leather jackets to billowy tops, 8telier provides beautiful basics to the modern woman. As a seasoned Seattle shopper, I was happy to see such an different, edgy side of style be represented in downtown's popular retail district. You definitely won't find mixed media scarves and skirted leggings at the Kate Spade or J.Crew sitting right next door.
8telier also has an impressive range of fun accessories in gun metal and onyx. From geometric rings to statement necklaces, the jewelry here will add some edge to just about any ensemble. If you want a piece of this collection for yourself, 8telier has plenty to offer online and in store at 600 Pine Street.
