Leather is the new denim nowadays. The luxurious texture can be used in a variety of ways for both guys and girls. Here are some easy ways to implement the trend into your 2014 style.
looks for women
These fun faux leather leggings from BP. Nordstrom are perfect for any style. Treat them casually like any other leggings in your closet by pairing them with a chunky knit sweater and booties. Rich earth tones (like plum and emerald) will intensify this luxe look.
Every girl should have an LBD in there closet (and if you don't I'm a little bit worried), but now you should be thinking of an LLBD: little leather black dress. This C. Luce laser cut dress has geometrical shapes cut out in the back and in flirty stripes in the front. Compliment the dress with a pair of strappy heels (like shown) in black or throw a metallic colored heel instead for a sassier look.
Leather can work wonderfully in the office as well. Try this black C. Luce peplum with a white pencil skirt or skinny chinos to look chic in your cubicle. A slicked back ponytail and a bright-colored clutch will complete the daring look.
looks for men
Every guy should have a leather jacket in his wardrobe (and if you don't I'm also a bit worried). I love to wear mine from Forever 21 when I'm feeling a little bit more edgy than normal on any given day. You can match it with equally edgy pieces like an ombre shirt or an indie graphic tee.
If you have more than two pairs of Nikes or enough jerseys in your closet to clothe a basketball team, then you have a sporty style. This clean-lined sweatshirt from ASOS is simple, masculine and will work seamlessly with your impressive collection of snapbacks.
Perhaps the trendiest way to inject leather into your style is with unique accented pieces. This sportcoat from Forever 21 has the classic construction of a blazer but with the added personality of leather at the inner elbows and shoulders. I love wearing this jacket with my Marc Jacobs sweater and denim, but you could alternatively wear it with a white button down and slacks.
