I'm a no fuss kind of cook. The easier it is to make, the more likely I will make it. Smoothies are a great way of getting hydration, vitamins, protein, and calcium in your system. Not to mention they taste amazing.
This berry banana smoothie I made completely by chance, but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious it tasted. I used Greek yogurt instead of ice cream or normal yogurt. The surprise in this recipe is the teaspoon of Nutella, which made the smoothie taste like it came straight from Jamba Juice.
- 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (blackberries, raspberries, blueberries)
- 3-4 ice cubes
- 2-3 tablespoons of plain Greek yogurt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 banana
- 1 tablespoon of Nutella
- 1 tablespoon of sugar or sugar substitute (optional)
Add contents to a blender, making sure to break the bananas to pieces. Blend, pour, and enjoy. Adding sugar is optional, but I've found that adding only the fruit and Nutella makes it taste bland, it needs that extra bit of sugar. I usually use Truvia, a natural calorie-free sweetener. Frozen berries are just as good as fresh berries, and are helpful in keeping the drink cold. This recipe makes about two servings.
