Justin Timberlake has graced us with another impeccable installment of The 20/20 Experience. The first part was an introduction to his new sound, and in this new second part, JT has found his groove. The tracks on this album are markedly more upbeat, as you could tell from the singles "TKO" and "Take Back The Night".
"Cabaret" is one of my favorite tracks from the album for it's unique production, interesting melodies and surprises. The track begins with a trance-like Timbaland beat featuring reversed piano riffs, a snappy syncopated bass, funky synths and signature wacky vocalizations from Timbo himself.
The lyrics are catchy and fresh, Justin varies the verses with talk-rapping and bursts of his falsetto. The chorus isn't much of a chorus as it is a call to the dance floor: "You're giving me everything you got. All I really want now is more. Put on a show, get on the floor."
The song's biggest surprise is a rap verse from Drake that adds some even more dimension. Drake's bars include plenty of clever analogies about himself, JT and the girl he's seducing.
With a song like this, Justin is taking back the night, taking out his competition and doing it all with class.
