The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to fiction. I love the plot, characters and social commentary weaved throughout this timeless novel. It exudes class, conflict, romance and a peek into the vacuous, careless world of the wealthy.
Being able to wear my favorite novel is a pretty cool thing. I bet Fitzgerald never imagined his novel would become immortalized through merchandise and movie adaptations.
This look centers around the statement piece, a crewneck fleece sweatshirt by Out of Print Clothing. You can find a whole bunch of different classic novels recreated into apparel on their online store. The unisex Gatsby sweatshirt is so popular that I had to wait a couple weeks before they had my size available.
I accessorized this look with glasses from Urban Outfitters, a gray button down jacket from Hollister Co. (not shown), dark blue jeans also from Hollister Co. and a pair of gray and brown Vans shoes (not shown).
Keeping this look simple allows the original artwork by Francis Cugat take center stage. If you wear a similar look, remember that you're literally wearing art, so don't get fussy with extraneous layers and embellishments.
