Out of the three gift guides (Men's, Women's and Children's) I've created, this one is my favorite! Being a kid at Christmas time is the best. I miss getting LEGOs and DVDs under the tree. Here are some classic gifts to give to your children, someone else's children, or adults that act like children.
Disney's Frozen Official Soundtrack • CD
If you took a kid to see Frozen this winter, there is no doubt they left the theater singing the melody to one of the movie's stellar songs. "Let It Go" by Demi Lovato is a fan favorite on the album. This CD is full of wholesome, fun music that you won't get annoyed with playing in the car for children.
Monster's University • 4 Disc Set
This Collector's Edition of Monster's University has four discs: a 3D Blu-ray, a standard Blu-ray, a DVD and a digital copy. Since it's offered on so many formats, you can have a disc for every situation. This Pixar film will become a child's favorite, meaning they'll want to watch it over and over again. Keep the 3D disc in your media room, the digital copy on your iPad, the standard Blu-ray in the living room and the DVD in the bedroom.
Wii U • Multimedia Console
The Wii U takes gaming to a whole new level (pun intended) by allowing children to take their game from the television to a portable gaming device seamlessly. The Wii U, just like the original Wii, is revolutionary and family-friendly. You can find popular games like Super Mario Bros. and Just Dance 2014 for the console for a present theme.
J.Crew • Long-sleeve Tee
Kids love comfy clothes over anything else, so why not get them something comfy and cute? This long-sleeve tee is adorable with it's abstract striped heart design. The soft pastels are sweet and the cotton fabric makes it extremely easy to wear.
Boo: The World's Cutest Dog • Slippers
These slippers are the cutest thing in the whole world, besides Boo the dog these slippers are modeled after of course. I wouldn't be surprised if the kid you buy these for slips these immediately on and never takes them off.
PLH Bows & Laces • Flower Headband
This headband comes in a variety of colors for the infant or toddler girl in your life. The headband works for any season. Pair this with a cute holiday dress and your baby will be the belle of any ball.
Gymboree • Half-Zip Sweater
This boy's sweater is perfectly stylish and warm, especially at fifteen dollars. It might be hard to keep a boy entertained by clothing, but consider buying a similar sweater for his dad or male figure so he can feel like he's dressing up like a big boy.
LEGO • High Speed Police Chase Set
I loved LEGOs as a kid, they're my favorite toy ever. Any boy will love having a new LEGO set to add to their collection. This small set makes a great stocking stuffer.
Apples to Apples • Board Game
This game is great for all ages and genders. It makes a wonderful gift for the entire family, even I am addicted to it. For added family value, buy some dollar store knickknacks to use a prizes for the winners of the game.
Barbie • I Can Be Space Explorer Doll
Barbie is a classic gift for girls around the world, this Astronaut Barbie makes an inspiring new addition. The doll comes with an astronaut suit, helmet, oxygen pack (very important to have) and moon boots. This doll is part of the "I Can Be" collection which includes a myriad of careers.
Disney • Winnie The Pooh Stuffed Animal
This stuffed animal keeps the longstanding story of Winnie The Pooh alive and well. My mom literally dressed up my whole entire room with Pooh paraphernalia. Every kid needs a teddy bear, and Pooh makes the perfect one because you can inspire the kid to read the hundreds of Pooh-affiliated books.
The Fault In Our Stars by John Green • Hardcover
For budding intermediate readers, this story of life and love will captivate the imagination in a way most fantasy, mystery or sci-fi books don't. The book was chosen as TIME magazine's number one fiction book of 2012 and will soon be turning into a movie. The book centers around the inspiring story of a cancer patient who finds hope in the strangest of places. Green's novel is a win-win because it's educational as well as funny.
Corduroy by Don Freeman • Hardcover
Corduroy is a picture book that has won the hearts of kids and parents everywhere for years. Don Freeman's illustrations are gorgeous and the simple story evokes innocence and curiosity. Use this book as a bedtime story for younger kids.
How The Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss • Hardcover & CD Set
No book collection is complete without Dr. Seuss. Forget the Jim Carrey film or the animated movie, the original book is where the Grinch story really comes to life. This B&N exclusive includes a CD with a reading by Walter Matthau, who is famous for his role as Oscar Madison in the movie The Odd Couple.
