Models these days have become celebrities of their own accord. Just look at Tyra Banks, or more recently, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, they turned their looks into personal brands that extend far beyond the runway.
Cara Delevingne is a stunning model and contemporary example of how social media propels careers forward. Cara is just 100,000 followers shy of hitting 3 million on Instagram, which says something about her appeal. Although she is stunning, her Instagram account is refreshingly not chock full of selfies that the average Instagram user has, perhaps because she has people taking pictures of her for a living.
I love Cara because of her amazing personality. She's fun, she's quirky and she's hardly stuck up. She doesn't take life too seriously, and I guess who would when you're a British model who's achieved success across the globe. She's conquered the modeling industry and now she's breaking into film with a central role in an Amanda Knox based film called The Face Of An Angel.
One of my favorite looks Cara has worn in 2013 is a black Burberry dress at the Met Gala. I think she exuded the punk theme amazingly well. The spiked detailing is striking and her eye makeup accentuates her most valuable assets: her eyes. You can judge a model's real style by what they wear when off-camera, and Cara's dress with simple accessories shows that she is a free spirit. Her style is effortless yet exciting, just like herself.
Even though Cara is insanely gorgeous, I'm obsessed with her because she has a strong work ethic (she's booked more than 15 different national ad campaigns and countless runway shows this year alone) and knows her personal brand very well. She's the new standard of a modern model.
