As Thanksgiving comes around the corner, I've been thinking a lot about what makes the holiday season so deliciously festive and fun. Every family has their traditions and foods that bring them together during the holidays.
Admittedly, Starbucks is a company I feel so close to during the holidays. I remember when my dad took my family to the Starbucks headquarters in Seattle when he used to do consultation work with them. I remember my mom always buying me Madeline cookies back when I was too young to have a tolerance for coffee. But my favorite Starbucks memories are always the ones of holiday shopping in downtown Seattle with a red cup in hand or waiting in line for the Nordstrom Santa Claus with a hot cocoa.
I've tried all the holiday drinks from Starbucks, and here are my favorites from the top down.
I love the taste of mint and chocolate together, it's such a refreshing combination. Starbucks already has a great mocha, and the dose of peppermint is the perfect addition for a Christmas concoction. This drink is best on it's own or with a less powerful treat like a brownie or chocolate chip cookie.
The gingerbread latte is a great way to get your holiday fix without having a flavor overdose. The subtle molasses and spices in this drink are cozy and inviting. I love that Starbucks has actual molasses drizzle over their whip cream now. This is like drinking a gingerbread house in a cup.
While this isn't my go to holiday drink, I do enjoy the buttery caramel flavor of this latte. I'd rather have a salted caramel mocha compared to this, but the crunchy caramel pieces on top of the whip cream are a nice surprise.
This drink has been available since 1986 and is a fan favorite, but it's not really my favorite. I'll drink it once in a blue moon (if there is one between the months of November and January). Eggnog just tastes better cold in my opinion, or spiked with alcohol.
