It's no surprise that I'm fascinated by celebrity culture. I'm especially intrigued with how celebrities portray themselves online through social media. Blogging is one of those mediums that it is great for sharing interactive media and inspiration. Gwyenth Paltrow turned blogging into a business, even though she already makes enough money. Joseph Gordon-Levitt uses blogging to share his own filmography projects. Even Lindsay Lohan has a blog to remind us of the talent she once had, err, still has. Here are my seven favorite celebrity blogs:
Lauren Conrad is the absolute queen of marketing herself. Gaining her fame from reality shows like "The Hills" and "Laguna Beach", this California girl turned her on-air personality into a fashion line, book series and full-fledged lifestyle website. She's famous for nothing really, except being beautiful and creating beautiful things. What I love about her blog is how interactive and fully-featured it is. This is not your basic Tumblr page at all. You can sign up, comment and create posts yourself here. She integrates her own projects with fashion, food, and DIY inspiration seamlessly. Even though the blog is undoubtedly girly, I think everyone should check out what LC has to offer.
Goop blends exclusivity, high fashion and fun all together. Created by Gwyenth Paltrow, the website features high-end products created specifically for sale on the website. Goop has collaborated with Alice & Olivia, Matthew Williamson, ECOALF, Busy Bees and more designers to create amazing clothes and accessories. Since Gwyenth is also a mother, she also has great things for parents to buy their kids so they can be as chic as her daughter Apple. The highlight of Goop is the recipes, where Gwyenth got her inspiration for blogging.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is basically the new James Franco because he does super artistic things that you would never expect an established actor to do. JGL's main project is hitRECord, an open and collaborative production company. You can find his productions on this Tumblr and his YouTube. This blog is pretty hilarious as the man himself, it's just so cool to see a famous actor acting like the rest of us by using Tumblr to share his passion.
If anyone needs an image rehabilitation (along with a successful drug and alcohol rehabilitation), it's Lindsay Lohan. Her new website does a good job of bringing back the cool factor she used to have. Her posts usually have to do with past photo shoots, videos, and glamorous peeks into the highlights of her life. A lot of the written blog posts are made by "Team Lohan". When Lindsay does write, it's usually only a witty sentence under a picture. Still, her site is well laid out and entertaining to peruse.
If there is anyone who defines cool in my book, it's Vanessa Hudgens. Yeah she's from High School Musical, but this chick has come a long way from Disney Channel. Her Tumblr is full of eye-catching art, style tips, funny GIFs, and non-cliché quotes. Her layout is hipster chic with a touch of bohemian edge, much like her own fashion choices. Vanessa knows which audience she appeals to most, and that is teenage Tumblr users.
Ashley Tisdale is also a High School Musical alumna and a bestie to Vanessa Hudgens. These two girls share similarities, but Ashley's taste differs quite a lot from Vanessa's. Ashley shares beauty how-to tips that match her preppy, colorful style. While her layout leaves something to be desired, I love Ashley's personal touches of sharing her favorite workout spots, DIY projects she has tried herself and things she actually wears. The nice thing is, her site doesn't feel like an advertisement for her brand, especially since she doesn't have a fashion or product line to push in your face.
LOL gotcha! I'm halfway joking, halfway not by putting myself up here. I'm by no means a celebrity (although I want to be), but I hope my blog gives you some sort of inspiration in fashion, life, music or whatever!
